The most wonderful time of the year is coming – starting on November 27, 2025, Mainz will be aglow with festive lights!
The Christmas city invites you to stroll, enjoy, and marvel. Atmospheric lights, regional specialties, mulled wine, and a unique atmosphere await you everywhere – an experience for young and old.
From the historic Christmas market on the cathedral squares to the smaller “Mainzer WinterZeit” markets or the new winter market on Neubrunnenplatz – there is something for everyone here!
Our tip: Get to know the Mainz Christmas markets better with the „GlühWeinWalk“ ticket. The ticket is now available in the mainz STORE and in the online store. For €26 you get 7 x mulled wine, 1 mulled gin and 2 x snacks at the Christmas markets in the city. A mainzgefühl mulled wine cup is included free of charge. The ticket is valid on all opening days.
Family Sunday at the Mainz WinterTime markets
On Sunday, December 14, all Mainz WinterTime markets invite you to Family Sunday! Look forward to special activities for children, cozy offers, and winter treats for the whole family. Join us and enjoy festive hours in an atmospheric setting!
Welcome to our review of the magical Christmas season in the Christmas city of Mainz!
In 2024, we once again welcomed numerous visitors who explored the historic Mainz Christmas Market and the charming „Mainz WinterZeit“ markets on Schillerplatz, in the Hopfengarten, on the station forecourt and in the courtyard of the Electoral Palace. 416,000 visitors came to the „Mainz WinterZeit“ markets last year.
Another special highlight was the New Winter Market on Neubrunnenplatz.
The festive atmosphere was enhanced by the ice skating rink on Laubenheimer Höhe, the Christmas family tours at the Mainz State Museum and the wide range of food and hotel offers. In addition, Mainz’s retailers ensured an atmospheric shopping season with attractive Christmas offers.
Another highlight was the „Mainz Advent Moments“ Advent calendar, which was organized for the second time and featured a special event or surprise every day in December.
