Mainz Master Concert – New Year’s Festival Concert

Pietari Inkinen, “Bayreuth Ring” Conductor of the Year 2023, leads his SWR/SR Radio Orchestra from Saarbrücken/Kaiserslautern through a fantastically bright evening on New Year’s Day 2024.
Beethoven, the classical music icon with pop star qualities, became hard of hearing at the age of 26, but thanks to his perfect pitch he was able to imagine the notes in context and continued to compose anyway.
After the landmark of his revolutionary 3rd Symphony, his aim was to try out his “new path” in various directions and win over a large public for his music.
With his 5th Symphony, he composed a worldwide hit.
It captivates us with its ingenuity, fantastic fullness and its fantastic dynamics that run towards the light.
Beethoven called his third “Sinfonie eroica” and probably originally dedicated it to Napoleon, but ultimately, as Richard Wagner assumed, “to the whole, true human being” beyond his feelings and passions.
