Citadel Christmas market “Art and Corinthians”
The Mainz Citadel Initiative once again invites you to visit the highest Christmas market in Mainz on the Jakobsberg.
Under the motto “Art and Corinthians”, many local stalls offer alternative products in the citadel. The Christmas market, which is organized by volunteers, is characterized by its cosy atmosphere in an exceptional location.
- The lutherBRASS Band will be playing on the Christmas stage from 12 noon and the ConcertBand from Mainz-Oberstadt Grammar School at 1 pm. After the musical opening, patron Marianne Grosse, Head of the Department of Building and Culture, Daniel Köbler, Member of the State Parliament and Head of Oberstadt, and Kay-Uwe Schreiber, Chairman of IZM, will welcome the guests.
- Our raffle is particularly popular, with numerous prizes to be won at 2.30 and 4.30 pm.
- Children are invited to a Christmas movie at the Kulturei at 2 and 4 pm.
- The numerous art and craft stalls are the focal point of the Citadel Christmas market. Many of them have been there since the first edition. On offer are jewelry, books, wool, gin, wood and much more. The culinary offerings range from sweet to savory and from hot to cold.
- The Mainz City History Museum is offering guided tours of the current special exhibition “Read – see – hear – experience. Mainz media through the centuries”.
- The Initiative Zitadelle Mainz e. V., offers a short guided tour of the citadel at 4 pm. A second one begins after dusk at 5 pm as a candlelight tour.
